Hi, Reader!

This fruitful Friday, we are doing some cutting!

I think I told you my word for the year is forward. I chose that word because, in January, I did a Bible study called Don't Look Back. I chose the study and the word because I want to ensure I am not dwelling on things in my past. God reminded me of that this week when I longed for past relationships, jobs, and experiences. He gently reminded me, "I cut that out of your life for a reason."

Ouch! Cutting can hurt.

For Little Pot, pruning branches probably doesn't hurt more than a haircut unless there's some psychological pain when you don't like the haircut. Yet, I bet Little Pot often feels proud of how big the plant grows and then feels sad that the potter cuts it off and throws it away, just as I look back at my past accomplishments and wonder if I did all that work for nothing.

You see, God calls it pruning, and He often removes things from our lives that will keep us from growing more fruit. The Bible says He cuts off every branch in us that bears no fruit, while he prunes every branch that does bear fruit so that it will be even more fruitful.

(John 15:2)

We have two choices: to have something wholly removed or pruned. Both involve God cutting things from our lives. This week's blog will help you understand spiritual pruning, the signs, and how we can make room for new growth.

Pruning feels like the opposite of growth. Pruning makes things smaller, and growth is the process of getting bigger. However, if we are to thrive, God must prune us.

The Well Conference

I'll be at The Well Conference in Hudonsville, Michigan, as you read this email. I'll share Little Pot and EA Books publishing services while meeting other Christian Creatives. Ironically, while I miss my life as a principal, interacting with teachers and students each day, I know that God removing that from my life now allows me to bear fruit in new ways at conferences like The Well.

What new opportunities do you have this week to be fruitful? What things in your life need to be cut out so you can grow fruit in those new places? Let me encourage you to be willing for God to cut things from your life and prune you so that you can produce more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Sometimes, God is nudging us to let go of something. Other times, He cuts it out of our lives without our help.

God's Pruning Techniques

Most of the time, He has nudged me, and when I couldn't and wouldn't let go, He cut it from my life anyway. Let me know what's been removed from your life, and I'll pray that it will bring growth and fruit in new ways.

Thanks for tuning in this week and not making our emails something you cut.

Stay fruitful,

Dawn, Little Pot, Tea Pot, Oil Lamp, and the cracked jar.

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Fruitful Friday, Reader! I don't have to remind you that this weekend is Mother's Day. Mother's Day without a Mom I never appreciated Mother's Day much until I had to celebrate it without a mom. My mom died when I was 19 years old. As all kids and teenagers do, I lived the first nineteen years focused on myself. I never realized what a mom did and never thought it could be that difficult. Mother's Day as a Mom I couldn't wait to be a mom myself. I anticipated...

Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! πŸ“πŸ’¦ Fruit and Water Just as Little Pot needs water to grow its strawberries, we need water to grow the fruit of the Spirit! You probably read that and thought about how many glasses of water you drank today and if it was enough. But I'm talking about the water inside your Yeti or new Stanley mugs. I'm talking about the water the woman at the well with Jesus discovered. Living Water! Living Water Did you know that the term Jesus used for "living water" was not a...

Hi, Reader! During this Fruitful Friday's week, I noticed something embarrassing and terrible. Each week, I begin to think and pray about what I should write to you about. I noticed that Monday, April 22, is Earth Day. 🌎 Therefore, I thought looking for ways to be fruitful in conjunction with Earth Day might be fun. I also thought it would be a good opportunity to push my Mother Goose Meets Mother Nature curriculum. And, that's when I realized I was selling some πŸ’©, Reader. My mistake. The...
